Day 336 Homemade Bread Experiments

Today was our second try at making bread. Tomorrow we will try again, here's the recipe we'll use tomorrow with a few notes: Put 1 cup warm water in a bowl with 1 packet of yeast and a large pinch of sugar and then let sit for 10 minutes. Mix in 3 cups of bread flour, a small pinch of salt, and then knead for 5-10 minutes. Keep dough in bowl, place in an unheated oven (a draft free place) covered with a towel for an hour. We've been "punching down" the bread at this point like many recipes said but we won't do this tomorrow. It doesn't seem to rise much more after punching it down. Sprinkle some flour on cookie sheet and put dough on it. Brush dough with barely melted butter (we tried milk on day two and it made the crust hard. it was much softer with butter) Cook for 30 minutes at 350. The bread so far has been pretty good but tomorrow with the few small changes mentioned we hope it will be really good.
